We are Kari and Jason. Your considering adoption shows much courage and compassion. It is an honor to be considered as a potential adoptive family by you. We hope this profile helps give you a feel for who we are.

We were both new to Washington, DC in 2000 and after becoming good friends we started dating. Our love of music, exploring the city, and common values led to building a strong relationship. We married on October 18, 2003 in the city where it all started. We are truly best friends. Our lives are filled with laughter, love, respect, and adventure.

Kari has a zest for life. She is very creative, warm, and loving. She enjoys biking, running, swimming and yoga. Over the years, she has completed one marathon, two half-marathons and two 10-mile races. She has also started her own successful graphic design business from home. Jason's support of Kari's quests has played a pivotal part in everything she has been able to accomplish.

Jason also has a fervor for life, but in a different way. He is smart, funny and very talented. He takes great pleasure and pride in his music collection and sharing it with others. Jason also enjoys foreign films and art exhibits at local museums. Jason's outdoor interests include hiking and exploring the city.

Our weekends are filled with activities that allow us to recharge our batteries as well as find ways to continue learning about ourselves as individuals and each other as a couple. We enjoy taking our greyhound, Snickers, on long walks and playing with him in the house. He is a wonderful pet and we feel lucky to have him. We enjoy traveling domestically and abroad. We love visiting new places and experiencing new cultures. As we expand our family, we will continue to travel and share all the world has to offer with our child.

We always envisioned having a family. The joy we have experienced with our niece and two nephews strengthened our desire for a family of our own. We always thought we would have a family the traditional way, but through issues with fertility, we decided to turn to adoption to build our family. We believe that families can be formed in many different ways and an open adoption allows us to have the family we always wanted. It also provides us with the information and access needed to share with our child his/her history and heritage that makes this child so unique and special. The benefits of openness allow for a sharing of love that can be provided by everyone involved. We will always be open and honest. Our friends and family are very supportive of our decision to adopt and are ready to welcome this new child into the family.

We visit with our families often and take every opportunity to celebrate birthdays and holidays together. We take great pleasure visiting with our family and watching our niece and nephews grow and mature over the months and years. This child would come into a family with two sets of loving grandparents, two sets of aunts and uncles, and many cousins who would dote and care for this amazing child. We look forward to the day when our child can play with his/her cousins and enjoy the family trips we take visiting one another.

We are happy and excited about becoming parents through open adoption. Upon learning about open adoption, we knew that it was a program that would work for starting our family. We want the absolute best for our child and the benefits of openness allow for a sharing of love that can be provided by the birthfamily. Our families are educated about the open adoption process and supportive as well as excited about the thought of a new child in the family. We look forward to learning more about you.
